BAFA Announce GB Lions U19’s Roster for France Friendly

Though there have been some shock announcements out of the GB Lions U19’s programme this week, it’s worth remembering what the most important thing here is: talented young athletes getting the opportunity to represent their country.

To that end, the British American Football Association have shared the Great British Lions Under 19’s Roster for their clash against France later this week.

The Lions will be going into the game heavy underdogs – they’re currently seeded by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) as #7 in Europe, versus a French team that are ranked #4 and have many years of experience as a programme, compared to the Lions’ recent revival in 2018.

As the players themselves turn their focus to the upcoming game, the re-jigged coaching staff will be supported during the trip by some very experienced hands – BAFA have shared that current GB Lions Senior Head Coach Mike Callan and former GB Lions Head Coach Riq Ayub will be attending the France trip as additional support to the team and staff – something that was arranged with the U19s programme some weeks ago.

And so, without further ado, we give you the GB Lions U19’s Roster!

Congratulations to all the players successfully selected!

Per the GB Lions U19s American Football Programme:

Great Britain Lions Under 19s Head Coach McMaster reveals the names of those who will travel to France to play an international friendly on Saturday 23rd February.

Coach Neale said:

“I’m delighted to be able to officially announce the travelling squad for the game vs Pole Revolution on Saturday. We’re delighted with the mix of experienced players from the Holland game, as well as the opportunity to give several players on both sides of the ball their first cap.

This game is another opportunity to develop the squad with one eye on the qualifier against Norway at the end of March.

We appreciate the support of the British football community for our young athletes as they embark on a hard journey, in difficult circumstances. However, allowing the staff to have this game to work together before the Norway game is the best option to give us an opportunity to get the Win against Norway in a few weeks.”
