BAFA Announce Open Trials for GB Lions Juniors Programme

The British American Football Association and Head Coach Neale McMaster have announced new open trials for the GB Lions Junior, Under 19s, roster.

Hosting trials in both the north and south of the nation, the Lions are looking to add young, talented ballers to the reinvigorated programme.

North and south trial dates and information now available!


The GB junior team is a combination of U19 and U17 squads. To be eligible for this trial, players must be born on any date during the years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006 and be British passport holder.

How to sign up

Trial events cost £10 per player and are available for sign up through the BAFA membership system by clicking on the appropriate link below.

  • Southern Trial – 10am, Sunday 29 September at The University of Hertfordshire, De Havilland Campus, Mosquito Way, Hatfield AL10 9EU
  • Northern Trial – 10am, Sunday 27 October at JMO Sports Park, Blaguegate Playing Fields, Liverpool Road, Skelmersdale, WN8 8BX

Players will be invited to login or set up a new profile when signing up for an event. Existing members who are currently, or who have previously registered for Youth or Junior Contact or any other National Leagues team and/or already have a profile on the system should use their existing login details. Please DO NOT set up a new profile.

Participants who are not currently registered on the National Leagues registration system with a National Leagues club, nor have an existing profile – for example community league players who are age eligible – will need to set up a new user profile as part of the event sign up process. Please note: only a basic profile sign-up is needed to register for an event.

Useful trial information

We request all trialists be at the venues for 10am to complete the registration process, prior to an 11am start. We anticipate all trials being completed by 2pm.

All trials are fully kitted, including lower sets/leg pads (girdles with shorts over are also acceptable). Some practice jerseys will be available at the event, but where possible offensive players should wear white jerseys, defensive players should wear black and QBs red.
