BAFA Diamond Series Registration Now Available

The British American Football Association have announced the preliminary details of this year’s Diamond Series – the full 11-a-side format of the British Women’s game that sees regional teams form from participants from across the Britball community.

Per BritishAmericanFootball.org:

We are pleased to release the preliminary details for this year’s BAFA Diamond Series which will bring women’s contact players together to join regional identity teams and compete at 11v11 format football. Returning this year will be the Northern Blizzard and Southern Blaze.

Diamond Series is open to all women’s contact players aged 18+.

Timeline

16 March – Registration for players closes
13 April – First Diamond Practice Day
11 May – Second Diamond Practice Day
1 June – Third Diamond Practice Day
8 June – Diamond Game Day

(The above dates for the Southern Blaze are provisional and are subject to the release of the youth fixtures – and there not being a clash).

Due to the Women’s European Championship which are taking place this year, and the need to give rest and sufficient GB practice time for the GB players, there will only be one game day this year.  However, for the game we’re planning to play a full game, of four 12 minute quarters.

All practice days are Saturdays and players should plan for the event to take-up a full day e.g. 10am to 5pm.
The practice session will take place at the following venues:
For the South

Home of the Wembley Stallions
LPOSSA, Greenford Road, Hussain Close, London, HA1 3QL

For the North
Weatherby Cricket & Rugby club Old Boston Road Weatherby LS22 5DY

The Game Day will take place at JMO Sports Park, Blaguegate Playing Fields, Liverpool Road, Skelmersdale, WN8 8BX

Costs
This year, as part of the Series, players will again get to keep their own personalised game jersey as a memento. However, to keep the cost down for future years we will keep the design from this year for future years so that in future years players won’t have to purchase another jersey.

The full fee for the Diamond Series 2019 is £80 per player – this is down from £100 from last year and reflects the fact that there is only one game day this year, and also because we’ve managed this year to secure the southern training venue without charge (thanks to the kind generosity of Wembley Stallions). This fee is all payable in advance and is payable at the time of registration (this is due to the need to purchase the jerseys in advance of the first training session, to ensure they arrive in time for the game day).

Players will be invited to login or set up a new profile when signing up for an event. Existing members who are currently, or who have previously, registered for a Sapphire, Opal, Adult Contact or any other National Leagues team and/or already have a profile on the system should use their existing login details. Please DO NOT set up a new profile.

The system will ask for a ‘ticket’ to be purchased at a specific playing position. This is just for our initial information on player’s experience, it does not restrict the positions available for the events. We will capture further information on preferred playing positions etc directly from players once they have registered.

Participants who are not currently registered on the National Leagues registration system with a National Leagues club, nor have an existing profile – for example community league players who are age-eligible – will need to set up a new user profile as part of the event sign up process. Please note: only a basic profile sign-up is needed to register for an event. No affiliation to a club, payment of membership fees or upload of ID is required.
