On the 9th September 2017, the British American Football Coaches’ Association will be hosting a regional clinic at Bournemouth University.
The day will feature coaches from across the South Coast talking about Culture, Scheme, Practice planning and much more, here’s the speakers throughout the day:
James Wilford- Head Coach of the Gloucestershire Gladiators
Following two highly successful seasons at the helm of the Gladiators, James has come to speak twice on the day; both on Building a Successful Culture in University Football, and on the 4-3 Under front.
Joe Walker II – Head of Coach Development, American Football Development Ltd. (AFD)
Joe has been involved with American football since his days at University; starting his career at the Loughborough Aces, then moving to stints with the Tamworth Phoenix, Kent Falcons, and now is the Coach Development Lead at Canterbury Christ Church Chargers. He currently heads up AFD; overseeing coaches within a school setting, he’s going to speak on game-based coaching and collaborative learning.
Simon Preston – Head Coach, Exeter Demons
Simon has coached across multiple levels in the UK; coaching at the Bristol Barracuda, Aztecs and Apache, as well as the Gloucester Banshees. Simon will be speaking on Run-Pass Option and how to best adapt it to the British game.
James Irving – Defensive Coordinator, University of Portsmouth & Solent Thrashers
James has led a pair of defenses to promotion at both University and Adult levels. He will be speaking about the concept of “Coaching Backwards”, which places the focus on the skills we need our players to develop and how we plan a training session to meet these goals.
Ben Wiltshire- OC University of Bath 2011-17
Ben has spent the past 6 years running the Bath University Killer Bees offense; bringing in a zone-based blocking scheme to bring vast improvement to the offensive production to the Bees’ O during his tenure. He’s also coached on the defensive side of the ball, but will be speaking specifically on Outside Zone Fundamentals at the clinic.
Attendance is FREE for BAFCA Members, and costs £10 for non-members
Last day to register for the event is today, but those looking to attend are also welcome to show membership/pay on arrival at the event itself.
