Britball Abroad | Carnegie trio head to Maple League following BUCS Success

Following their hugely successful BUCS campaign that saw Leeds Beckett Carnegie earn their first National Championship, three standout ballers have signed agreements with the Finnish Maple League’s Tampere Saints, looking to provide a big bolster to the Finnish side’s secondary.

Sheldon Campbell, who earned his spot on the GB Lions roster for the 2017 IFAF European Championships, returns for a second season in Finland having played for the Jyväskylä Jaguaars in 2017.

This summer Campbell brings a pair of his Carnegie teammates north with him, including Carnegie’s standout playmaker in recent seasons, Spencer Hind, and BUCS 18/19 Championship Final MVP, Tyler Broad.

Campbell told

“Previously playing in Great Britain and Jaguaari, I’ve been eager to get back in the Maple League. The national home-grown Talent is the best in the world, so I’m looking forward to a good competitive season.

Coming off the Championship at Leeds Becket, I have the same Intentions at Tampere.

Go Saints!”

The trio will kick off their season with the Saints on 6 June, versus the Helsinki Wolverines.
