BUCS 18/19 Postseason Fixtures Announced!

Let’s take a look at the postseason matchups, with comparisons and analysis the follow…

Premiership Quarter Finals

University of Nottingham vs Hertfordshire Hurricanes

Swansea Titans vs Durham Saints

UWE Bullets vs Stirling Clansmen

Leeds Beckett Carnegie vs Birmingham Lions

Notes: All as expected here, but then the Premiership’s by far the simplest postseason format. Notably, BUCS haven’t shared overall national seedings that would be used in the Semi-Finals.

Division One Final Sixteen

North:

Sheffield Hallam Warriors v Northumbria Mustangs

Coventry Jets v UCLan Rams

Newcastle Raiders v NTU Renegades

Loughborough Students v Edinburgh Napier Knights

Notes: Again, all as expected here. The way BUCS list the fixtures is a little odd at first glance – 1v8, 4v5, 2v7, 3v6 (these changed at some point today).  Playoffs appear to be bracketed.

South:

Brunel Burners v Bath Killer Bees

Kent Falcons v Exeter Demons

UEA Pirates v QMBL Vipers

Southampton Stags v Surrey Stingers

Notes: The only change here is QMBL and Bath appear to have swapped places compared to our expected seedings – as we noted might happen, at some time overnight the Vipers were awarded a walkover victory against the Imperial Immortals, making them 5-3 on the season and advancing them into the #7 seed.

The way BUCS list the fixtures is a little odd at first glance – 1v8, 4v5, 2v7, 3v6 (these changed at some point today).  Playoffs appear to be bracketed.

Division Two North Quarter Finals:

Leeds Gryphons v HWU Wolverines

Liverpool Raptors v MMU Eagles

DMU Falcons v Sunderland Spartans

Edinburgh Predators v Staffordshire Stallions

Notes: This one’s all as expected. Despite Edinburgh’s concerns, they’re still sat safely in the #2 seed. The way BUCS list the fixtures is a little odd at first glance – 1v8, 4v5, 2v7, 3v6 (these changed at some point today).  Playoffs appear to be bracketed.

Division Two South Quarter Finals

Essex Blades v Sussex Saxons

Bournemouth Bobcats v UCL Emperors

Worcester Royals v UEL Phoenix

Royal Holloway Bears v Cambridge Pythons

Notes: The way BUCS list the fixtures is a little odd at first glance – 1v8, 4v5, 2v7, 3v6 (these changed at some point today).  Playoffs appear to be bracketed. They amended them at 1730 today to correctly place Worcester in the #2 seeding berth and swap out Bristol Barracuda for Sussex Saxons. This rejigged a number of the lower seedings.
