BUCS Confirms Division Two Semi-Final Fixtures (Almost…)

BUCScore has confirmed the Division Two Conference Cup Semi Final fixtures in both the North and the South, following the weekend’s results.

The only exception is the opponent for the Essex Blades, following the Bournemouth Bobcats’ fixture hosting the UCL Emperors being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The fixture has been rescheduled to go ahead this weekend, while the rest of the Division Two competitors head to a bye week.

Top seeds in the North, the Leeds Gryphons, will host the Staffordshire Stallions – who impressed in their long trip up to Edinburgh, coming away with a hard-fought 6-13 victory after both teams spent much of the game deadlocked at 0-0.

The DMU Falcons will host the second northern fixture, having survived a scare against the Sunderland Spartans – holding firm for a 21-20 victory over the Borders visitors, and earning themselves home-field advantage versus the Liverpool Raptors later this month.

In the South, the Essex Blades earned the programme’s first postseason victory, with a tough 10-0 win over the Sussex Saxons. However, as noted, they’ll need to wait until this weekend to find out whether they’ll play host to either the South West’s Bournemouth Bobcats, or the South’s UCL Emperors, after the two teams fixture was postponed this week due to the weather.

Finally, the Worcester Royals took a nice win over the UEL Phoenix to book themselves a semi-final fixture against the visiting Royal Holloway Bears. The Bears survived a scare against the Cambridge Pythons on Sunday, as the South East side kept things within a score, but ultimately the Division One-bound Bears proved the better side.
