Leeds Beckett Carnegie v Loughborough Students
The first ever competitive meeting between these two in the era of the Uniball Premiership.
Leeds Beckett welcome Loughborough to their *ahem* “compact” home field, hoping to prove that being competitive in their opening game against reigning champions, Stirling, will actually equate to a win or two this season.
Carnegie led the champs twice last Sunday and proved that they are ready to make the step up on both sides of the ball, and will have identified this Week Three match-up as being eminently winnable. Despite a 20-0 loss to Durham in Week One, Loughborough’s defensive front is still the team’s engine room, and how they match up against Leeds Beckett’s strong, experience offensive line will go a long way to determining how this one plays out.
Don’t expect Air Raid football from either of these two teams, but the purists will love this one. The heart says a romantic first win for Carnegie, but in the past we’ve been proven wrong by Loughborough more times than any team in Uniball history. The coin toss says…
