Burners HC, Goddard, Steps Down Ahead Of Week Ten Fixture

Brunel Burners Head Coach, Jon Goddard, has announced he’s stepped away from the Burners this week.

This surprise departure comes as the Burners prepare for their fifth game of the season, heading to the Sussex Saxons. Currently sat in a playoff berth – an impressive feat for a programme in their first year in the middle tier – the Burners are expected to have a hectic end to their season, with four fixtures to play in the three remaining weeks of play.

Speaking with DC, Goddard stated that due to the huge time commitment involved, nine hours of commute every week, he ‘felt he was no longer able to meet the level of commitment he expected of himself’ and stepped away from the programme confident they were in a strong enough position to play out the season successfully.

Luke Hextall, Burners Defensive Coordinator, has stepped in as interim Head Coach for the 1A South side.
