Coach Ben Johnson Announced as Head of Coaching For NEAAF

Britball veteran coach, Ben Johnson, has been announced as the new Head of Coaching at the North East Academy of American Football.

Coach Johnson departed his role as Head Coach of the Team Northumbria ahead of this #Uniball season following difficulties in the relationship between the programme and their Team Northumbria hosts.

Per the North East Academy of American Football Facebook page:

North East Academy of American Football are delighted to announce that Ben Johnson will be taking over as Head of Coaching.

This is a huge step forward for the academy as Ben has a wealth of experience coaching American Football in the UK

During his coaching career he has taken Newcastle University to a National Championship, been part of the Great Britain Junior coaching squad, coached Senior Football at Yorkshire Rams, Gateshead Senators, DC Presidents and Newcastle Vikings and Junior Football at Gateshead, most recently he was part of the development programme at Northumbria University.

He starts immediately and will be looking to build on a successful U17 first season in 2017 where we reached the Plate Final in BAFA National League.

Ben has already recruited a number of assistant coaches to help to develop the Academy programme to ensure stability into the future
With the much needed recent BAFA changes to Age ranges it will now allow more players to be involved in Academy Football.

Players can now play Full Contact 5 v 5 as soon as they turn 13.

We will also be looking to field a U19 (17-19) Junior team in the BAFA National League during 2018 and we would be specifically interested in any first year BUCS players looking to develop their skills.

Training starts again Saturday January 13th in preparation for the 2018 season
