Community | A Better Day For Chris

Wide Receiver Chris Evans made a pre-season move from the Sussex Thunder to the Solent Thrashers in the offseason and both Chris and the club were excited about the season ahead for him.

Sadly it came to a very premature end in the Thrashers first game against Portsmouth when Chris suffered a badly broken leg after just 25 minutes in a Thrasher uniform – he left the game with 3 catches for 83yds with a season-ending injury.

Two operations later he is now on the road to recovery and he called in to see the Thrashers win narrowly at the weekend over his former club. At half time he was surprised by the team with some get well gifts which were purchased from donations given by his new teammates and a generous donation from the online site Hail Mary Hits.

Club Chairman Paddy Tickner said

“Chris has fitted into the Thrashers like he has always been here – he has the Thrasher mentality and the players love that, the idea of a collection for him due to the extent of his injury came up and the response from the team was overwhelming.”

Chris is an Odell Beckham Junior fan and was presented with an OBJ signed photo, signed LSU mini-helmet and signed New York Giants mini-helmet.

The team are looking forward to welcoming Chris back in black and gold next year.
