DC Writers Preseason Picks: BAFA National Leagues

Surprise picks…

In keeping with time honoured DC tradition, the writers have also offered up surprise predictions and further expansion on their picks above ahead of the new campaign.

The clamour to predict success for the London Blitz B squad was relentless, with Kieran and Nicky predicting perfect records through to Bowl success. Rob predicts a perfect regular season for the B team, but can’t see them winning the Bowl. Kieran also predicts an unbeaten season for the first team London Blitz, culminating in another National title.

Comparatively, Rich believes that NO London team will win a bowl game at adult level, and Frankie predicts a case of déjà vu for the Blitz with a 6-2 regular season record, a win over the Pirates in the playoffs before ultimately succumbing to the Warriors at Britbowl.

Nathan doesn’t believe that any of the NFC Premier, SFC Premier, NFC 1 or SFC 1 division winners will go on to win their respective Bowl games, whilst also predicting that East Kilbride Pirates will not go undefeated and that Tamworth Phoenix will not finish second in the division.

Fairytale predictions for Sandwell Steelers and Sussex Thunder from our writers, as Rob believes Sandwell will finish 8-2 just a year after finishing 2-8, whilst Rich also believes they’ll go on to win the NFC 2 Bowl. Frankie believes Sussex will win the SFC 2 bowl just a year after folding before the 2014 campaign.

Alas, Matthew ends the positivity with his prediction that 5+ teams will fail to complete their regular season. Sadly, this probably isn’t viewed as a surprise pick within the Britball community.

Finally, Kieran believes Nottingham Caesars will end 2015 with a winning record. A winning record in a division containing Clyde Valley, Chester and last year’s finalists, Edinburgh and Merseyside. Ok, Kieran. Put the pipe down.

As always, we want to hear your opinions too! Comment below, on Facebook or via Twitter and tell us which teams YOU think will be leading the way in 2015. We’ll check back on these predictions midway through the season and after the Bowl games and allow you all to congratulate or ridicule us…
