Diamond Series 2018 Registration Open

BAFA Women’s Football have opened the Diamond Series 2018 to player registration.

The Diamond Series represents the annual opportunity for ballers from all across the British Women’s game to try out the 11-a-side format of the game.

Designed to bridge the gap between the five- and seven-a-side formats of the game, and the 11-a-side National Programme, this year, the Diamond Series returns to its previous format, with the reintroduction of the Northern Blizzard and Southern Blaze (and the possibility of a new, third, Midlands-representing side!)

The registration window is brief, the deadline for registration 2 April 2018, so if you’re interested in participating? Don’t miss out on signing up!

The full fee for the Diamond Series 2018 is £100 per player and this breaks down as £40 per game jersey and £60 to cover the five practice and game days.

Per BAFA Women’s Football:

(Note: Please do not post queries about personal situations and requests for forms etc on this page as we cannot answer these here on the basis of confidentiality. Please email direct to: bafawomen@britishamericanfootball.org)

We are pleased to release the preliminary details for this year’s BAFA Diamond Series which will bring female players together to join regional identity teams and compete at 11v11 format football. Returning this year will be the Northern Blizzard and Southern Blaze brands, with the possibility of the launch of a new Midlands representative team. The Diamond Series, as well as being an exciting competition in its own right, Is the teir between Sapphire Series 7v7 / 5v5 football and the GB Women’s national team, who play exclusively at 11 v11 format in international games.

Diamond Series is open to all female players aged 18+ (on or before the day of activity, or aged 17 with a completed BAFA parent/guardian permission form*).

Timeline:
2nd April – Registration for players closes.
28th April – First Diamond Practice Day (details TBC)
5th May – Second Diamond Practice Day
12th May – Diamond Practice/Game Day
19th May – Diamond Game Day
2nd June – Final Diamond Game Day

All days are Saturdays and players should plan for the event to take-up a full day eg 10 o’clock AM to 5 o’clock PM.
All details of practice and game venues and day schedules, teams and playing positions etc will be notified direct to each player after registration as much of this information is dependent on the sign-up numbers for the event.

Costs:
This year, as part of the Series, players will get to keep their own personalised game jersey as a memento. We need to pre-order the jerseys before the practice days even begin to ensure delivery in time for the game days.

The full fee for the Diamond Series 2018 is £100 per player and this breaks down as £40 per game jersey and £60 to cover the five practice and game days ie £100 total. To assist payment for all we have split this into the option to pay in two parts of £50 each. Part 1 must be completed with initial registration by 2 April and is non-refundable (because of needing to pre-pay for jersey order). Part 2 payment must be completed by 6 May. (Note: The system uses the term ‘Registration Part 1 and Part 2).

More information on venues and dates will be distributed via teams and the BAFA women’s football Facebook page. Following the part 1 registration closing date, players will also be contacted directly by email with more information on next steps.

Players will be invited to login or set up a new profile when signing up for an event. Existing members who are currently, or who have previously, registered for a Sapphire, Opal, Adult Contact or any other National Leagues team and/or already have a profile on the system should use their existing login details. Please DO NOT set up a new profile.

The system will ask for a ‘ticket’ to be purchased at a specific playing position. This is just for our initial information on player’s experience, it does not restrict the positions available for the events. We will capture further information on preferred playing positions etc directly from players once they have registered.

Participants who are not currently registered on the National Leagues registration system with a National Leagues club, nor have an existing profile – for example university or community league players who are age eligible – will need to set up a new user profile as part of the event sign up process. Please note: only a basic profile sign-up is needed to register for an event. No affiliation to a club, payment of membership fees or upload of ID is required.

Insurance:
Players must already hold an active 2018 BAFA Sapphire or Adult Contact membership to be insured to participate. If you wish to take part but have not already registered with an existing National Leagues Sapphire or Adult team, please contact registrations@britishamericanfootball.org for guidance on how to arrange BAFA membership and insurance to cover you for Diamond Series.
