First NFL emoji, #JayTrain, launches for London-born Jay Ajayi

London born Jay Ajayi will today become the first NFL player to have his own Twitter emoji.

From 5:30pm GMT on Wednesday fans have been able to unlock a bespoke Ajayi emoji in all Tweets, simply by including #JayTrain. The emoji was unveiled by @JayTrain23 this Wednesday evening.

The emoji will live exclusively on Twitter and has been released to celebrate the return of Jay and the NFL to London this weekend, as the Miami Dolphins take on the New Orleans Saints at Wembley Stadium (#NOvsMIA).

Ajayi is a hugely popular figure amongst NFL fans on Twitter, with almost 65K followers to his name. He’s never far from the global conversation happening around the NFL. In fact, Twitter data shows that he was the second most-mentioned NFL player as fans discussed their Fantasy Football selections heading into this season.

Bruna Zanin, Sports Partnerships at Twitter UK, added:

We couldn’t be more excited about this emoji going live. @NFLUK have always been incredibly innovative in their use of Twitter. Coupled with Jay’s refreshingly genuine use of Twitter to engage his fanbase, it seemed like a natural fit to launch this special emoji for everyone to enjoy ahead of #NOvsMIA.

Sarah Swanson, Head of Marketing, NFL UK said:

We’re really excited to welcome Jay Ajayi home to London this Sunday for the Miami Dolphins game at Wembley. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate his on-field success than with the launch of the first-ever NFL player Twitter emoji. We’re really proud to see Jay leading the charge for London both on and off the field!
