Fixtures Updates | BUCS 18/19 Week Nine

We’ll continually update this article as any information comes in relating to BUCS Week Nine fixtures.

With a whopping 29 BUCS fixtures scheduled for this weekend, alongside Sapphire action, there are some notable amendments to the originally published schedule this week:

1A North: Newcastle Rivalry Game Not Going Ahead

Late news out of the 1A North as the Newcastle Raiders vs Northumbria Vikings clash falls foul of the weather.

1A South: Second Leg of Surrey vs Brighton postponed due to weather

Sunday’s Surrey Stingers vs Brighton Panthers clash has been cancelled due to a frozen pitch.

Premiership North: Saints v Carnegie currently without venue

The highly-anticipated Premiership North clash between the Durham Saints and Leeds Beckett Carnegie is currently without a venue after the Durham pitch was declared unplayable. We’re hearing there is a possibility of the game being moved to a new venue, but no confirmation on this at this stage.

2A North: Bears @ Gryphons off

Saturday afternoon’s showdown between the two Yorkshire sides has been called off due to the weather.

1A North: East West Scottish Showdown lost to frozen pitch

Despite the hard work of both teams putting together a corker of an event, the Edinburgh Napier Knights vs Glasgow Tigers  rivalry game has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

1A South West: Demons vs Stags postponed with unplayable pitch

The Exeter Demons‘ pitch has been declared unusable, forcing the team to postpone their scheduled second meeting with the Southampton Stags. Resceduling this one in the remaining few weeks is looking likely to be extremely difficult.

1A South West: Bees vs Cobras snowed off

The Bath Killer Bees and Cardiff Cobras were scheduled for a second crucial meeting this Sunday, but with snow in the Bath area, and more expected over the weekend, the game has been called off.

2A South East: Phoenix vs Rhinos goes the way of the dodo

The UEL Phoenix’s pitch has been declared unplayable, and so their fixture versus the ARU Rhinos will not be going ahead on Sunday.

2A Borders: Centurions vs Spartans is ancient history

The York Centurions clash with the Sunderland Spartans is the sixth fixture to succumb to the weather ahead of this weekend.

1A South: Saturday’s Knights vs Cougars showdown goes down

The Reading Knights vs Kingston Cougars Saturday fixture won’t be going ahead due to the weather – we await further information from the teams.

1A South East: Vipers vs Immortals killed off by weather

The QMBL Vipers will need to hope they can maintain their momentum from their big win last week, as this Sunday’s fixture vs the Imperial Immortals will need to be hopefully rearranged for later in the season.

2A South West: Bulldogs @ Bobcats not going ahead

The Bath Spa Bulldogs will not make the trip to the 4-0 Bournemouth Bobcats this Sunday, due to low player numbers leading to safety concerns.

We’ve not had it confirmed either way, but expectations are that this game will go down as a walkover win to the Bobcats – moving them to 5-0.

2A South West: FNL | Cavalier Cup Goes Down to Weather

Originally set to kick the weekend off early with some Friday night football, the annual Oxford Lancers v Oxford Brookes Panthers showdown, celebrating the teams’ mutual history when they were both founded as the Oxford Cavaliers (College Bowl XV winners), has been cancelled due to the weather.

2A Midlands: Frosty weather puts Legion vs Hawks under threat

The Chester Legion vs Huddersfield Hawks fixture scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled due to a frozen pitch, the teams confirmed on Friday morning.

2A South: Royal Holloway to Host Bears/Emperors Clash

Though this in nominally a UCL Emperors home game, the Royal Holloway Bears will instead be hosting this week’s crucial 2A South showdown.

Saturday fixtures for Week Nine:
  • Premiership South: Portsmouth Destroyers vs UWE Bullets
  • 1A South: Reading Knights vs Kingston Cougars
  • 2A North: Leeds Gryphons vs Bradford Bears
