Game Preview | BAFA NL ’19 – Nighthawks vs Wolves

Game 2 Wolves @ Nighthawks
Sunday sees the Wolves travel to JMO park to take on the Merseyside Nighthawks.

This is possibly the wolves closest match-up to a rivalry this season in large part due to the Championship games in 2014 and 2015 where the Nighthawks bested the Wolves both times to take the crown.

The series can be traced as far back as 2007 (we believe) long before most of the current rosters were even playing.

The Wolves are coming off a close (16-15) victory against the Sheffield Giants and are in good spirits heading into the matchup! They will leave early Sunday morning with almost a full squad travelling. Notable absences: Ross Young who is suspended for one game.

Merseyside, however, are coming off the back of a defeat, which on paper sounds worse than it is. They took on the Tamworth Phoenix last week and kept things close until the 4th quarter where Tamworth’s depth of talent saw them pull away 34-6.

With Merseyside sitting at 1-1 there is very much everything to play for in this matchup!

“We have a very tough schedule this year with all of our games being played within 13 weeks. So a strong start is essential in making sure we don’t fall behind the pack.”
