Getting Things Back On Track – A Word From The Editor

Following a few quiet days, we’re looking ahead to a fully stocked slate of content this week as Editor, Nick, returns from focusing on some family concerns:

Dearest Britball Nation,

First up, apologies once again for my sudden disappearance last week.

I hadn’t really taken any time away following the birth of my son, and in truth, he’d seemed a little angel through his first couple of weeks.

However, as is their wont, it seemed like as the clocks changed, so did his ability to sleep for more than 30 minutes at any given time, and suddenly what had appeared a smooth transition into parenthood became a lot tougher for all of us. Soph and I needed time to find ourĀ feet again, it’s just unfortunate that it clashed with such a crucial week of the Britball calendar.

Thank you to those across the community who voiced their support, either on DC or via private message. It really does mean a lot.

I fear that a large portion of the community aren’t aware that while DC has many, many awesome contributors whose great passion for the game is reflected in the content they create, the reality is this site is still ultimately one-man-band (just with some great supporting artists!).

While I suppose it should be flattering, the high expectations that are placed upon DC, I also think it’s worth emphasising that though we aspire to full-time, professional coverage of our sport, to date we still have no employees – myself included. I draw expenses from what the site brings in, which with an expanded family simply isn’t a sustainable solution.

However, that’s something for me to solve, and in the meantime, I’m pleased to say that our coverage will return this week, including hopefully backdating some of the articles that were missed last week in my absence.

Play hard, play safe.

– Nick
