Kingston Cougars looking to add coaches to fast-growing programme

The Kingston Cougars, currently heading into their sixth season in the BUCS American Football Leagues are looking to recruit a number of key positional hires as well as a Special Teams Coordinator role. Having competed in the Premiership South for the past 2 seasons including a postseason appearance, the club are looking to make an immediate return to the top tier of BUCS. We have a history of developing high calibre athletes that have gone on to play at the highest level in the BAFA National Leagues winning National Championships as well as playing semi-professionally in Europe and even as far as NCAA College and NFL level in the United States,

These positions have come from current coaches having to step down due to other endeavours and/or travel logistics making the level of commitment required for the roles difficult,

The current coaching staff, under the guidance of Head Coach Nate Wilson, is very stable with 14 coaches returning plus a very proactive committee that have been working very hard in the off season to grow the club off the field and allow us to best prepare for on-field success.

You will be required to be available at least TWICE a week from the start of September 2017 until the end of the season in March 2018. Our training dates are Tuesday evening (7-9pm chalkboard session), Thursday evening (7-9pm on field session) and Sunday afternoon (1-4pm on-field session). Match Days are Sundays between November to March.

We have our Camp Away weekend scheduled from the evening of Friday 27th October to Sunday 29th October where attendance will be highly desired for ALL roles. . .

We are looking to recruit the following positions;

Offensive Line Coach – A positional coach with good Offensive Line experience to help mentor 7 returning veterans with a couple having Senior experience this year added to the recruitment of rookies that will take place this summer. You will be required to have a minimum Level 1 coaching qualification and at least 2 years positional experience at either Junior, University or Senior ball level You will be responsible for creating and implementation of the OL positional season manual (to be agreed with the Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach)

Running Backs Coach – A stable core of running backs to work with including one playing at Senior Premiership level and three 2nd year veterans. You will be required to have a minimum Level 1 coaching qualification and at least 2 years positional experience at either Junior, University or Senior ball level. You will be responsible for creating and implementation of the RB positional season manual (to be agreed with the Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach)

Quarterbacks Coach – With two QBs on the current roster, you will be required to mentor and develop them. One is a returning 3rd year with Junior level experience and one a rookie who has been recruited from Youth football. You will be required to have a minimum Level 1 coaching qualification and at least 2 years positional experience at either Junior, University or Senior ball level. You will be responsible for creating and implementation of the QB positional season manual (to be agreed with the Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach)

Special Teams Coordinator – With our current Special Teams Coordinator on leave until January, we have decided to recruit a new STC for the 2017/18. You will be responsible for the development of the Special Teams playbook and will have scope to implement as you see fit in accordance with our current team philosophy and culture. You will be required to have a minimum Level 1 coaching qualification and at least 3 years positional experience at either Junior, University or Senior ball level and ideally 1 year of Coordinating experience (not essential.)

All positions are on a volunteer basis and reviewed annually. The university provide reasonable travel expenses for game days and are fully supportive of the club.

In addition, these roles may lead to other opportunities within our Cougars programme overall that operates at Under 17, Under 19 and Women’s level football under either the brands Kingston or Cobham Cougars currently.

Whilst these are the appointments we are currently looking to make, we would happily welcome any approach for other positional, assistant or graduate roles within the organisation. Please address all applications to Head Coach Nate Wilson and Director of Football Operations, Conan Jal to kuamfcougars@gmail.com

The deadline for applications will be 5pm on Friday 21st July. Interviews will commence Saturday 22nd July to Tuesday 25th July either in person or via Skype.

Thank you
