New staff join Great Britain men’s contact team

Head Coach Mike Callan is pleased to announce appointments to his coaching and backroom staff.

It’s been a busy month for Great Britain men’s contact as Head Coach Mike Callan and his coaching team have been busy recruiting staff to help them get ready for upcoming games in the Autumn.

Joining the staff are:

Faye Eastwood – Team Manager

Faye brings extensive experience to the position as a former manager of various National Leagues teams and as a BAFA registrations manager. Faye is also a long-standing member of BAFA’s events team, having helped deliver team support for British finals and IFAF events.

Ryan Baker – Quarterbacks coach

Ryan, currently with the Sandwell Steelers, has worked at a high level throughout his coaching career, including with the Birmingham Lions in the university league and the IFAF Development team. He returns to GB football after initially working with Coach Callan and his staff back in 2011.

Steve Sheppard – Running Backs coach

Steve brings a wealth of National and European team coaching knowledge, having worked with the Dutch and Australian National teams. In addition, he has honed his craft in the GFL, working with the Dresden Monarchs.

Luke Carlton – Offensive Assistant

Luke, from the Manchester Titans, will work as an offensive assistant with the Offensive Line. His high level of detail and organization will make him a great addition to the staff, for the players, and in the coaches’ room.

Neil Edwards – Safeties

Neil, from the London Olympians, will work with the Defensive Safeties to advance and develop an already talented group.  His experience as former GB player will be invaluable and he’ll be able to pass his knowledge onto a group of players coming into the fold of the National team.

Duncan Burford – Corners

Duncan, from the London Blitz, has been brought in to work with the Defensive Corners.  He has a wealth of knowledge from the Blitz and competing in European tournaments throughout his coaching career there.

Coach Callan commented:

“I’m delighted to welcome everyone to the team – their talent and experience make them great additions to our existing staff. This is an exciting time to be joining the GB National Programme as we’re now focused on preparing for games in the Autumn. Ahead of then, our next practice is on Saturday in Nottingham. This session will see a number of new players trying out who have been recommended  to us by their coaches,  following an invitation for teams to nominate their best players and help us tap into the wider pool of talent available to us.”
