Power Rankings | BAFA NL Adult Division One: Week Nine

Power Rankings are here once again following an exciting Week Nine!

And, as noted we’re doing things differently for 2018!

We’re collating this year’s rankings via a completely new format – polling not only our own BAFA National Leagues team of correspondents but also giving all of our passionate Patreon supporters the opportunity to determine how these rankings stack up!

Each contributor submitted their own picks of who’s top dogs in each tier, and then we tallied it all up to create these amalgamated rankings!

Once again, this new format of selecting the top ten teams in each tier is proving tempestuous!

Cut:

None

No teams cut this week allowing Week Eights teams to all hold onto their ranking spot… for now.

Hon. Mentions:

The Oxford Saints are making some noise with two wins on the trot – they’ve got a streak of winnable-looking fixtures ahead of them so could easily appear on these rankings before the year is out!

10. London Hornets ( = )

The Hornets stay put in the #10 spot following their bye. They host the East Kent Mavericks this weekend with the goal of moving to 4-1 and making the SFC 1 East as confusing a conference as ever!

9. Kent Exiles ( = )

Exiles hold on to the #9 spot following the bye – but their rankings spot is likely to see a fairly hefty shift in the coming days – this weekend sees a crucial match up against the Cambridgeshire Cats that either jump Kent up, or out of, the rankings!

8. Sussex Thunder ( Down One )

Harsh treatment of the Thunder this week as they drop a spot despite their impressive win over the Berkshire Renegades.

The Thunder took a big loss to Berkshire back in Week One, but turned that around with a 39-6 victory at the weekend – but apparently our pollsters are looking for something more from the Sussex side.

We’ll see them next in Week Eleven versus the conference-leading Thrashers.

7. Yorkshire Rams ( Down Two )

The Yorkshire Rams continue to slide down the rankings following a second-straight loss.

They’re not lacking in talent, but two weekends in a row they’ve let games get away from them in the first half before falling just shy of catching up in the second.

They get a shot at re-climbing the rankings when they face the Vikings once again, in Week Eleven.

6. Lancashire Wolverines ( = )

The Wolverines remain locked in the #6 spot.

We thought we might see them climb a big following their bullying of the Bobcats, 58-0 at the weekend… however it appears our rankings pollsters are looking for Lancashire to take some bigger scalps before they’ll let them into the top half of the rankings.

5. Cambridgeshire Cats ( Up Three )

The Cats are the biggest climbers this week, pouncing up to the #5 spot. They returned from their byes to steamroll the Wembley Stallions 40-0, and now sit atop the SFC 1 East at 4-1.

They travel to the Exiles this Sunday with the top spot in the table on the line.

4. Solent Thrashers ( Down Two )

A week off and some strong performances elsewhere see the Thrashers drop a couple of spots.

They travel to the Ouse Valley Eagles this Sunday and will look to earn themselves a sixth W of the season, as well as their spot back in the top three in the rankings!

3. Sandwell Steelers ( = )

Sandwell seals the #3 spot for a second straight week following a comprehensive victory over the Shropshire Revolution – a team that sorely pushed them back in Week Three.

They head to a bye, before taking on the Doncaster Mustangs in Week Eleven.

2. Northumberland Vikings (Up Two)

Another nice win over tough competition sees the Vikings continue their climb up the rankings! They now sit uncontested atop the NFC 1 North as the long undefeated team – but the Wolverines are hot on their heels!

Northumberland head to a bye, before a very busy stretch of their season gets underway – four straight fixtures where they’ll be looking to the depth of their roster to sustain them down the stretch and keep their undefeated season alive!

1. Leicester Falcons ( = )

And once again, the Falcons take a unanimous vote as the #1 team in the middle tier.  They next face the Jets in Week Eleven and it’s going to be tough for any of their rivals to snatch the top spot in the rankings with many of them also on byes in Week Ten.
