Pride and Aztec Alum Headed to the NFL?

Only a few years ago he hadn’t even considered playing the sport.

Alex Jenkins was a talented athlete, from a family with great sporting heritage, who appeared to be initially headed in an entirely different direction in sport – playing football (the one with the spherical ball) for the Bath City Academy – when it was pointed out to him that his size and athleticism would be well suited to playing the harder hitting variety of football.

Within mere weeks of taking up the game, Alex’s natural talent for the sport shone through, making the GB Youth Roster just a few short weeks after his first ever taste of the game with the Bristol Academy Pride and the Bristol Aztecs Youth system.

It’s been up and up from there for the young man from Odd Down. There followed a range of scholarship offers from top University programmes, with Alex eventually opting for the University of Incarnate Word, where there was the most potential for growth for him both as a ‘baller, but also a scholar and a man.

Having sent along a correspondent to his inaugural Alex Jenkins Defensive Line Camp at theBristol Academy of Sport last weekend, DC are really pleased to hear rumblings that THE PRIDE – Filton College American Football Academy andBristol Academy Aztecs American Football Teamalum and University of the Incarnate Word Cardinal, Alex Jenkins, has been signed to an as yet undisclosed NFL Programme!

We’ve got loads of content with Alex coming over the next few weeks to help share his inspirational story, and hopefully show other young athletes the potential path to success in the sport they love…
