QMBL Vipers Announce Head Coach Appointment

With #BUCS1617 fast approaching, a change in circumstances meant newcomers to the league, the Queen Mary and Barts London Vipers suddenly found themselves lacking a Head Coach! An unenvious position for a programme entering their first competitive season, following sharing their search for an experience HC through Double Coverage, the Vipers were pleased to announce their new appointee this weekend!

“After an extensive search, the QMBL Vipers are delighted to officially announce Sean Lewis as our Head Coach for the 2016/17 season.

Coach Lewis joins the programme following an accomplished playing and coaching career in the US and the UK. His playing career in the US has included Howard University in Washington DC and Kennesaw State in Atlanta, Georgia, and most recently at the London Olympians in the UK. His coaching experience includes assisting with coaching at the Olympians and with the South London Renegades youth team.

Coach Lewis’ expansive knowledge of football as well as his love for the sport made him an exciting candidate. He had the following to say following his appointment:

“American football has always been my passion. I am dedicated to building a successful programme with a culture where students can experience the comradery of playing together and build strong and lasting relationships on the football field.

I take a lot of my experience of coaching from my excellent previous coaches and the times I have spent playing football in the USA as a youth through high school and at Howard University.
Being a Head Coach has always been something I have striven towards, so when the opportunity at Queen Mary presented itself it seemed liked the perfect opportunity

We are looking forward to turning a lot of heads this year.”

With the structures for the upcoming Uniball season now decided the Vipers will be competing in the 2A South East.

Not to tempt fate, but of their new conference opponents only one, the Greenwich Mariners, earned a winning record last season, meaning we might see the Vipers get off to a fast start in their entrance to #Britball’s biggest league.

While the Vipers have complete their Head Coach search, they will now be working with Coach Lewis to expand their coaching roster.  You can learn more about the Vipers on their Facebook page:
