Rich Merrick takes the helm for Nighthawks Juniors

The Nighthawks make their first major move of the off-season by making Rich Merrick the new Head Coach of the Merseyside Nighthawks Juniors. This sees Jim Blinkhorn step down from his position after a successful period at the top for the U19 team.

Rich has been a committed member of the Nighthawks Adult team winning two Division one National Championships as a Free Safety before taking up a role as Defensive Backs Coach last year. Rich was keen to further his coaching career and was quick to jump at the chance of becoming Head coach of the Juniors.

We caught up with Rich and he said:

“Thank you to Jim Blinkhorn. He has done a fantastic job and I have deep gratitude to the work he has done. I am very happy to be taking the helm and I am excited about the future of the team and the Nighthawks program. I cannot wait to get onto the practice field and get working with the current and new athletes on the team.”

Rich echoed the thoughts of everyone at the Merseyside Nighthawks in thanking Jim for his amazing work to bring the Nighthawks Juniors to where it is. Jim will still be involved off the field and will no doubt be great support for Rich as he settles in to his new role.
