The Durham Saints, currently sitting at 6-0 atop the Premier North, may have been dealt a blow to their aspirations of a College Bowl, as news has emerged of the possible suspension of their starting quarterback.
A number of sources across the #BritballNation contacted DC about the quarterback’s possible suspension, though we are yet to see anything confirmed by BAFA, BUCS, or the Saints themselves.
The quarterback was banned this past summer by the American Football Association of Finland following a positive doping sample in May.
The former NCAA Division III college quarterback was suspended whilst playing for the Tampere Saints in the Vaahtera Liiga (Maple League), the top tier of football in Finland, and had his contract terminated with immediate effect.
Since that time the quarterback has been the starting quarterback for the Saints during their unbeaten run, although he didn’t play in their 27-12 victory over the Derby Braves this past weekend. The reason for his absence, suspension or otherwise, is yet to be confirmed.
We contacted the Saints but so far have only received the following in response:
“For all enquiries please contact the Durham University Communications Team on +44 (0)191 334 6075 or firstname.lastname@example.org.”
We will of course keep the ‘Nation up to date with anything further we learn.
