Division 2B heads to Oxford this weekend where all will be decided. After the big freeze put a hold on proceedings last round, any team can battle their way to victory when they take to the field on Saturday.

2B Finals Schedule

|Game 2||Oxford vs Peterborough|

|Game 4||Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 2||1st and 2nd|
Oxford Saints will be hoping that their home field advantage will be enough to take the title. After losing to Kent Exiles in Round 2, they will be disappointed to have missed a chance to take back the #1 seed due to the cancellation of Round 3. Their first game on Saturday puts them against Peterborough Royals, in what will be a hard battled affair. Oxford have come away with the win in their previous meetings, but Peterborough will be keen to make a statement in the last tournament of the season.
The Royals have shown steady progression since the start of Sapphire 18. Expect them to put on a show this weekend now that the format means anyone could take home the trophy. Despite being seeded 3rd, they’ve looked like a threat to cause an upset all season and the Saints would be unwise to think that their first game this weekend will be an automatic win into the final. Regardless of result, this first matchup of the day will be one to watch and one of the most entertaining.
Kent Exiles come into the final with the number one seed. The rookie team have surpassed expectations and put on performances that defy their young programme. Although confidence will be high, the Exiles will have to hold their nerves if they want to take the title back to Kent. Their first matchup of the day puts them against fourth seed Staffordshire Saxons. Although Kent have come away with the win on their previous two meetings, Staffordshire have also managed to put points on the Kent defence and will be looking to do more of the same on Saturday.
Staffordshire will be disappointed that their home tournament had to be cancelled due to severe weather conditions. However, they did manage to enjoy a friendly scrimmage against Oxford Saints, who still made the efforts to head north despite the bad weather. This extra practice could be the thing Staffordshire need to cause a surprise on Saturday and get their first win of the season. Their opening match up against Kent will be a tough test, but one that will show how much they’ve grown as a team this year.
Anyone of the four teams can be crowned champions this weekend. We predict a Saints v Exiles showdown for the final crown, but as we’ve seen before anything can happen in this division. Good luck to all teams this weekend.
A special mention also needs to go out for the four Team MVPs selected for the Sapphire 18 Division 2B Division.
