Sheffield Hallam Warriors Announce New Head Coach Appointment

Following the retirement of long-serving head coach Richard ‘Grizz’ Batty the Sheffield Hallam Warriors have been looking for their next head coach to take them forward into the 2017/18 season, and they have found their man in Coach Tom Kharchi.

Coach Kharchi first joined the team as the Hallam Warriors wide receiver coach in 2014/15 during their Division One title run, then moving up to offensive coordinator in their following 2015/16 Northern Premiership season and leading them to the Division One playoff final in 2016/17. He’ll now be taking over as the Head Coach to move the club into its next chapter, starting with potential promotion to the Northern Premiership this upcoming season.

When asked what it meant to him to receive this opportunity he said,

“It’s an incredible honour to be taking the reins of the Sheffield Hallam American Football team. Ever since I got involved in the game at my alma mater Hull University, Hallam were a renowned powerhouse. Following in the footsteps of Coach Batty I know there are high expectations but I am excited and looking forward to the season to come.”

Coach Kharchi

Coach Kharchi brings a wealth of knowledge with him to the role. His involvement with the GB Adult team and repeated trips across the pond to learn from some of the best high school and colleges in the  country such as IMG Academy, UCF Knights & the Florida Gators, has given him the experience and confidence needed to take on this head coaching position.

It seems Hallam have found the right man to lead the program forward, with their future looking bright.
