Southampton Stags looking to Add to Coaching and Support Staff Ahead of 19/20 BUCS Campaign

The University of Southampton Stags Want to add to their coaching and support staff in preparation for the 2019/20 season.

The Stags Football programme is looking for enthusiastic Graduate-Level Coaches who want to start or progress their coaching careers in an environment where teaching young coaches is just as important as teaching players.

The team can offer decades of coaching and football experience right across the staff, from Youth, University and Adult National Championships right up to running National Programmes.

Head Coach Graham Thorpe and his staff want to give coaches an opportunity to learn and progress on a team that can offer very experienced tutors of the game.

At a time when many of the most senior championship-winning Coaches are leaving British University football the Stags have retained their veteran Coaching staff, and their extensive knowledge base, even improving on it with the addition of Justin Smith, another greatly experienced Coach with experience with the former GB students programme.

The team is also looking to recruit a variety of non-coaching roles.

With the ever-growing role social media, gameday film, and analytics have to play in sport, the Stags want to offer both current students and graduates the chance to ‘learn by doing’.

What the Stags do off the field is just as important as what is done on the field to push the programme forward.

The Stags have excellent facilities at the University of Southampton Wide Lane Sports Complex.

There is a 4G Home Field for all-weather practices and games, and directly next to the field there are Indoor facilities for team meetings, film and whiteboard sessions. The building-long walkway offers a perfect platform for filming.

There is also a gym on-site for player use. Coaches have access to a great deal of football-specific training equipment such as a full O/D line Rogers Shutes, Two 2-man Rogers Blocking and Tackling Lev Sleds, tackle bags, shields, tackle tubes, etc.

Training is held on Tuesday, Thursday evenings and Sundays.

If you want to join a very well established American Football programme and progress your skills, learning from experienced coaches and backroom staff, please get in touch. Similarly, if you have any queries about the roles, do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

The Stags Programme is led by Head Coach Graham Thorpe. All inquiries are welcome and should be directed to graham.thorpe59@gmail.com
