The Well Overdue Trim Raises Over £3400 for Mind

This past weekend’s ‘The Well Overdue Trim’ saw Britballers Wayne Drew and Elliot Walters of the Tamworth Phoenix each shed over 16 inches of hair in support of the mental health charity, Mind.

Alongside donating the hair itself to the Little Princess Trust, the event kickstarted the pair’s campaign, Lifting the Lid – aimed at raising awareness of and promoting discussion around mental health issues, particularly within sport.

So far, including gift aid, the event has raised just shy of £3500 on behalf of Mind, and the Lifting the Lid campaign looks to add significantly to that total moving forwards, both with the launching of the ‘I’m Fine’ decal, available for sale from, as well as future events and activities.

The event saw engagement from across the breadth of the British American Football community, including the pair’s own team, the Tamworth Phoenix, donating all the funds raised from the preceding game (a dominant 62-0 win for the Phoenix over the visiting Nighthawks) to the cause.
