Early last month, the NFL launched a major initiative to develop players in the UK when they announced the NFL Academy. For those young athletes looking to following in the footsteps of the likes of Efe Obada, Jay Ajayi, Alex Jenkins and co, It’s pretty clear that this will be an incredible opportunity to get not only access incredible coaching and facilities but also what is surely the best pathway to opportunities stateside – including drawing the attention of the NFL International Player Pathway Programme and NCAA scouts.

There is still an opportunity to register for and attend the first Academy trial on Saturday, June 15, people can register their interest here.

“We are looking forward to our first Academy trial on Saturday and are excited to see the talent and interest that this new initiative has produced. There are still some places available for people who wish to register for a trial, whether or not they have any previous experience in American football.” Will Bryce, Head of Player Development for NFL UK

The successful trialists from June 15 and June 22 (at New River Sports Centre) will qualify for the final trial at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 2. This will be the first time the specially built NFL field at the venue will have been used to play football. So even if you don’t ultimately make it, you will still have a great first to boast about!

Those aged between 16 and 18 years old are eligible to trial with an aim to enrol on a BTEC Level 1, 2 or 3 course, a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, NVQ Level 2 Coaching, YMCA Personal Training course or an A Level study package.
