Wembley Stallions are undefeated Sapphire Division Two Champions

On Saturday the final snaps of the 2018/19 Sapphire Series took place, as the Wembley Stallions wrapped up an impressive campaign with a pair of stellar performances against the top two teams in the northern half of the tier!

Having emerged as the Division Two South champions looking utterly unstoppable after an 8-0 campaign where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 to 2 (!!!), the Stallions continued their momentum into the National Finals where they took on first the Cheshire Bears, and then the Teesside Steelers in the Championship game.

The Semi-Final clash with Cheshire represented perhaps the toughest test of the Stallions defence so far this season, as a Bears offence that has consistently put up points all season posted 20 on a Wembley defence that only conceded two scores through seven fixtures during the regular series. However, the Stallions own offence continued to put in work, outpacing the Bears for a 39-20 win.

This set them up for a Championship clash against D2 Northern Champs, the Teesside Steelers, who themselves were coming into the final off a nice shutout win over the Kent Exiles, and having won three of their final four regular-series fixtures to emerge triumphant from an incredibly hotly contested D2 North Conference!

As was, however, the Stallions defence had refound its form, putting a steel curtain between Teesside and the endzone, allowing Wembley to earn a D2 Championship victory with a shutout win – the sideline erupting when the final whistle blew on an incredible series-long performance from the Stallions!
