Williams in as Head Coach at Edge Hill Vikings

The Edge Hill Vikings have quickly replaced outgoing head coach, Ryan Allen, promoting Gareth Williams from the position of offensive line coach.

Allen parted ways with the programme this past weekend, with university, work and family commitments vastly reducing the time that he could focus on the team.

Williams brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, as a current Lancashire Wolverines player and a long-time coach of the UCLan Rams before taking up the role of OL coach at the Vikings this year.

Furthermore, he has named Yu-Joe Lewis Lai as his offensive coordinator, who steps in to fill the role that was held by Allen and Ryan Cartledge, who has also chosen to leave the programme due to a new job.

Lai, another product of the UCLan Rams with time also spent playing in Germany, has been assisting Williams with the OL this year and is familiar with an offence that has perhaps under-performed in the first two games of the year.

The Vikings will be looking to bounce back from their 0-2 record with their rescheduled game against Bradford on the 21st January.
