Jonathon Rooney Announced as BUCS Sports Advisory Group Chairman

Durham Saints Head Coach Jonathon Rooney has been announced as the new chairman of the BUCS Sports Advisory Group. Coach Rooney steps into the role, which has been vacant since the resignation of predecessor, former University of Nottingham Head Coach Phil Wood, towards the end of last season.

Coach Wood stepped down late last season during a period of frustration both across the community, and within the Sports Advisory group itself, as voided fixtures and weather-caused postponements and walkovers caused significant disruptions to the BUCS 17/18 postseason.

The role initially remained vacant throughout the offseason after the first call for applicants, but a further search for a new chairman successfully appointed the Durham Saints Head Coach, who comes into the 18/19 season off the back of a National Championship winning campaign.

Speaking to his fellow BUCS Head Coaches, Coach Rooney expressed his pride in having the opportunity to contribute the sport through the role, and his ambition to help grow the game and move the sport forwards.
